Tatale
by Akwasi Brenya-Mensa
Tatale is an award-winning contemporary Pan-African dining concept from Akwasi Brenya-Mensa that celebrates and preserves the rich tapestry of African flavours and cooking traditions. In 2022, Tatale debuted as a restaurant to widespread critical acclaim at London's historic venue at The Africa Centre. Shaped by extensive travel, deep understanding of culinary traditions and how they evolve across geographies and time, Tatale explores diverse techniques, flavors, and methods of preparation, while also considering how heritage dishes can evolve today. Tatale has earned international recognition; Brenya-Mensa has been named Eater London's ''Best Chef'' (2022), included in The OFM 50 from The Observer Food Monthly (2022), and shortlisted for ''Best Chef'' GQ Food and Drink Awards (2023). Brenya-Mensa was included in “The New Era of West African Fine Dining” from The New York Times (2024) and was honored to host a Royal visit from HRH King Charles III (2023).
